Henri Rivers IV – HRIV Ski Cross

Henri IV is excited to be a member of the 2022-2023 NBS B Team. Henri IV is a member of the
NBS Mid-West Region - Jazz-Ma-Tazz Ski Club. He is an Alpine/Ski Cross skier. Ski Cross is a
skiing competition which incorporates terrain features traditionally found in Freestyle skiing
with courses which include big-air jumps and high-banked turns.  Henri IV is a member of
the Spyder Class 1 Scholarship Program.

Henri IV has been skiing 13 years and competing 9 years. He attends Gould Academy in Bethel,
Maine and is working with some notable Alpine, Freestyle/Freeski coaches.

During the 2021-2022 season, Henri IV attended the Holderness Thanksgiving Ski Camp in
Sunday River, Maine. Below are his words on what he experienced:
● I had the opportunity to train more days on snow
● I had the opportunity to compete against college level athletes
● The Holderness team was very welcoming and fun to be around

For the 2021-2022 season, Henri IV’s top three sanctioned competition United States of America
Snowboard and Freeski Association (USASA) races were:
● 1st place Ski Cross at Gore Mountain
● 3rd place Ski Cross at Gore Mountain
● 3rd place Ski Cross at Gore Mountain

On Friday, October 28, 2022, Henri IV boarded a Lufthansa flight and landed in Munich,
Germany. Henri IV attended the Fall U16 Camp in Stubai Austria for race training. Below are
his words on what he experienced:
● The snow and powder were exceptional
● I was able to work with my coaches on video and was able to ski gates earlier in the ski
season

During the 2021-2022 season, Henri IV’s Ski Cross performance improved and for the 2022-
2023 season and he plans to focus on Alpine/Ski Cross full time. For the upcoming season Henri
IV’s three goals are:
● Qualify and compete in Nationals
● Consistently finish every race and place in the top 5 for each race
● Win at least 2 races

Henri IV’s long-term goal is to improve his academic performance as well as elevate his athletic
ability to elite status.
