Desiree (Trahan) Terrell is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana better known as the ‘Red Stick’.  She graduated from Southern University of Baton Rouge, a historically black university where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. She was a member of the Southern University Track team, the Southern University Marching Band Fabulous Dancing Dolls team and modeled for local fashion designers, boutiques, and bridal shops. After graduating from college, she moved to Colorado Springs, CO to work in her Computer Science career in June 1988.

She discovered the Ski Ambassadors ski club and became a member in 1988. She got involved by participating and organizing the Fashion Show yearly fundraiser along with many other winter and summer activities. The members were very welcoming, and they taught her how to ski. Over the 34 years of being a member, she has held many offices such as Secretary, Treasurer, Member At Large, Vice President and President.

She modeled with Creation of a Dream based out of Colorado Springs, Models of Distinction based out of Denver, Ski Ambassadors and Slippers and Sliders annual fashion shows, and Bridal expo fashion shows. She taught modeling classes at John Casablanca’s Modeling Agency based out of Colorado Springs, CO.

She’s performed Liturgical, Drill Team, Jazz, and African danced for many events and organizations in Colorado Springs, CO such as ELKS Lodge events, Urbanites Leading the Pikes Peak Region (ULPPR) events, African American Youth Leadership Conference (AAYLC), Get Set Preschool program, Founder’s Day for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and many more. She’s very passionate about celebrating life through her creative dancing and has started doing the same in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

She loves outdoor activities such as running, biking, skiing, snowshoeing, yoga, roller skating, standup paddle boarding, camping, hiking, horseback riding, canoeing, taking on the levy and State Capitol Stairs.

She’s a Life member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and celebrated 25 years this year (Silver Star). She’s a member of St. Paul the Apostles Catholic church were she’s a Lector, member of Ladies Guild and Ladies Auxiliary.

She has a beautiful and talented daughter Tianna that resides in Frisco, CO as a Marketing Coordinator. Her daughter was a ski racer and was supported by the Rocky Mountain Region and National Brotherhood of Skies to develop her ski racing skills competing in the winter sports.

She’s engaged to Michael Spann, where they both live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana taking on the adventures it has to offer.

Desiree’s currently employed with Oracle Corporation as a Senior Principal Technical Software Engineer where she brings innovative software solutions to Oracle Customers.
